4A- Forming an Opportunity Belief

Belief:

The Coronavirus can be contained

Describe your belief:

1) The unmet need is a vaccine or quarantine area in the U.S The health of the many residents in the U.S that may contract the illness due to it being easily spread.
2) Everyone has the need of not being diagnosed with the sickness that can spread if someone simply just coughs in the air. They experience this need all the time.
3) The need comes from people not wanting to come into contact with a sickness that can cause death. So, since it was first discovered.
4) They're addressing the need by keeping their hands clean and avoiding contact with their facial features.
5) I'm 90% sure that the opportunity to contain this virus exists.

First Year Student

   I interviewed a first year student. He believes that a travel ban needs to be put in place and quarantine to contain the virus. He states that every time he comes across a meme of it online, it causes him to worry. He believes that the need of the ban comes from the protection of the population and, that there is a sense of urgency in creating a vaccine to stop the virus from spreading.

   I interviewed a young woman while at the Reitz. She believes that a broader understanding of the virus must be made known before a cure can be made. Once people know of what causes the sickness to strengthen or weaken then a cure can be made into effect properly. The thought of the virus only arises when their friend brings it up. She says that there are a few individuals going to Africa to test a vaccine that can potentially cure the virus which, would lessen the startling of the country since the virus came into fruition.

Senior in High school

   I interviewed an honor roll student at a high school. She believes that a vaccine is not the answer but, a pill to contain the virus to a minimum would be the better solution. The issue of the virus tends to stay on the back of her mind. She states that the need of a solution came from the outburst of the public. She also states that people aren't truly addressing the situation but, just waiting and watching.

REFLECT:

   I learned that some people do share the same views with me regarding a vaccine or using a quarantine to contain the virus. What caught my eye was, the solution of using travel bans, this could work well but, have its side effects. I was quite shocked that the senior told me that a vaccine shouldn't be made but, a pill to just lessen the effects of the virus. The virus would still be in the system and not completely killed off.

SUMMARY:

   I believe a good 80% of the opportunity still exists. The new opportunity is more accurate, as travel bans would contain the virus which, creates time for a vaccine to be made properly. I believe that the opportunities should be adapted to feedback because, it shows that the safety of the country comes first.

- Prosecutors have found a great difficulty in being able to charge/prosecute the sex traffickers, also known as "pimps". When the find the victims of sex trafficking, the victims are often scared to speak up due to the chance of being retaliated against or being humiliated by others.
- The problem prosecutors are facing is that they can barely build up a case toward the trafficker if the victim chooses not to come forward.
- The prosecutors have the problem, as well as the other people that may fall into the sex trafficking scene if the trafficker is let free.

- A man in South Miami has recently confessed to the accusations of him stealing solar panel batteries from different bus stops throughout the city of Miami.

- The city of Miami has the problem as they have to replace of upwards 226 batteries for the bus stop shelters which, cost just over $50,000.

- Several students at a K-8 Center have taken the initiative of making the world a better place by making magazines that pushes forth for attention on mass shootings.
- The students are fighting for Congress to further strict gun laws due to all the mass shootings.
- The problem is for the students in trying to get their point across and for Congress if they are to make these laws, the backlash they may receive from the other people in the country.

- Miami is taking precautionary measures against the coronavirus by placing quarantine stations at the airport.
- The coronavirus is an illness that has been rapidly spreading from Wuhan, China.
- The residents of Miami have this problem of keeping the illness away as the coronavirus is easily spread which, may cause the sickness to rapidly spread here in the U.S.

- Super Bowl Economic Impact Not A Settled Matter

- The NFL has paid Miami a significant amount of money to host the Super Bowl this year.
- Most of the money that Miami has made will be towards the costs of hotels and also the taxes that were waived on the super bowl tickets. They're also paying for more security and overtime hours for the workers.
- Miami has to spend more than half of what they made by hosting the event, due to the serious demand of the city being a natural tourist attraction.

My Entrepreneurship Story

   To begin with, the High School that I attended to prior to UF, used to host on specific days, "Career Days". A diversity of professions would come and interact with the students and provide a brief background of how they came to be. I vividly remember one man, who just happened to be an entrepreneur. Growing up, I always wanted to make money, so this was the perfect treat. He started up his own pharmaceutical company, and to date now has a limo company as well. The entrepreneur told us, the class, to always think outside the box and to not stay limited to one idea or how you could approach that one idea. The greater you broaden your horizons, the more influence you have on yourself to truly flourish in any set thing you place your mind on. These words have since been apart of my life, and I motivate myself to bring it into being.

 

   I enrolled into ENT3003 to learn more and have a much more stable foundation in entrepreneurship. Knowledge holds the key to a variety things, thus creating opportunities for more than just one form of success. ENT3003 also just happened to be an elective that I was able to take, so it all worked out well in the end.

Bug List

1. When people leave their promotional cards on my car's windshield wiper.
Why the bug exists: They would rather promote via card instead of having to speak to one about their business.
2. When gas station lines in Miami are long during hurricane season.
Why the bug exists: People always want a full tank, just in case the upcoming storm proves to be a dire threat which, is understandable.
3. Exams that aren't on the material that was supposedly "taught".
Why the bug exists: Professors just love to make the students go the extra mile in preparation for an exam.
4. When people say to do something in the process of it being done.
Why the bug exists: They just want to give a "friendly" reminder of whatever needs to be done.
5. When "scam likely" repeatedly calls.
Why the bug exists: The person behind the line wants to commit fraud.
6. When there is dog feces on the sidewalk, right next to a big patch of grass.
Why the bug exists: The owner probably isn't paying any attention to their dog.
7. Un-flushed toilets in public areas.
Why the bug exists: People are probably terrified of who or what may have touched the toilet flapper, so they avoid doing so.
8. People screaming while talking on the phone.
Why the bug exists: They want to get whatever their point is, across to the other person.
9. Lying when the truth is already out.
Why the bug exists: Whoever is lying just wants to make themselves seem not guilty, even though they are.
10. When the mechanic begins to give you a list of things wrong with your car, when you only went there for one problem.
Why the bug exists: They're running a business, even if the problem is minor. They just want to make money.
11. When someone repeatedly calls your name.
Why the bug exists: They either want your undivided attention or they're just trying to be annoying.
12. When someone calls you and proceeds to say absolutely nothing.
Why the bug exists: The phone signal is probably very low.
13. When people don't use the turning signals on West Dixie Highway in North Miami.
Why the bug exists: They're either texting and driving, or it's for a sudden turn that causes you to make an abrupt stop.
14. Black Friday at Walmart
Why the bug exists: Everyone wants to save money on the things they'd like to buy.
15. When the GrubHub driver doesn't follow the instructions you've made.
Why the bug exists: It's routine for them to just receive the order and deliver the food to your door. They probably forgot to check the instructions.
16. Lack of parking at Aventura Mall in Miami.
Why the bug exists: Celebrities do pop up there often, so tons of people begin to come.
17. Ridiculously slow internet speeds
Why the bug exists: Internet providers want you to upgrade to their best services available.
18. Older Apple products begin to stop working
Why the bug exists: They dish out new IOS updates and someway, somehow, the older products begin to have problems never seen before.
19. Long drive-thru line at Chick-fil-A on Archer rd.
Why the bug exists: Everyone loves Chick-fil-A which, causes painfully long lines.
20. When people drive 40mph or less on the highway.
Why the bug exists: They want to be safe drivers, or they're multitasking.

REFLECTION:
   To begin with, this Bug List activity was overall fun to do. I was thinking of procrastinating and doing it the day it was due but, I am glad I forced myself to do it in advanced. It was not entirely too difficult to do but, it caused me to think deeply and truly find what bugged me. I started off on a slow pace when doing the assignment but, when I reached the fifth bug, the bugs started hitting me left and right. When we realize the things that bug us, we never think about what causes it, we usually just get aggravated and leave it at that. This assignment helped me to comprehend the mind of an entrepreneur. They think beyond what most people do thus, causing them to be more susceptible of being able to create things and find solutions. All in all, I'm now able to think more outside of the box.
