To begin with, there are current solutions that are available to deal with the coronavirus while we wait for the proper treatments to make its way. Quarantine sections are being made and kept within airports to minimize the spread of the virus. Other ways would be by being able to provide something similar of a care package of food, such as the ones soldiers use, and selling them for cheaper then the cost of how much people usually pay for food in China. For this opportunity, the only issue would be the cost of production and shipping. However, with that being said, the amount of packages bought by the people in China, otherwise known as the usage rate, would greatly overcome the cost of production.
A epidemic is occurring through the eating of animals that contain zoonotic diseases. If a care package of food were to be sold for relatively cheaper than the cost of food in China, the more of the care packages people would buy. The more packages being bought, the more profit continues to build up steadily. It is like one who invests with a small amount of money, they won't really see the profit made for a couple of years. This idea, however, does ensure profit to be made early on due to low prices, usage rate, and hopefully outside sources bringing attention to the product. It's a win-win situation, the people are eating relatively healthier and money is still being made, minimizing the risks of obtaining the virus from certain food.

ReplyDeleteThe problem will be solved with time as always. I think the main concern is containing it therefore it doesn't spread and become something that cant be controlled or fixed with time. I like your idea regarding the low cost care packages people could buy. The more care packages being bought the more money will be made long term. It looks like a great idea especially to get the food that can cause that virus out of the hands of the locals

I enjoyed reading your thoughts on possible solutions to limit the spread of the virus to non-infected areas. For instance, I think proper containment at airports, like you mentioned, should be a high priority, at least in the United States. Individuals coming back from areas with reports of the virus should be screened thoroughly, and you brought up a great way of dealing with that. Nice job!
I have never even thought of sending these care packages as a potential solution to the recent epidemics that have been occurring. This is a great idea as it will potentially influence the locals of the places these care packages are being sent to consume healthier foods that do not contain food-borne bacteria and viruses. Treating and controlling major viruses like this end up costing over a billion dollars, so these care packages may help to prevent the transmission of these diseases in the first place.
